It's a Wrap!!!
The 16th annual Pittsburgh Jewish Israeli Film Festival completed an amazing run with wonderful films and programs from March 12 - 29, 2009. Festival screenings were held at the SouthSide Works Cinema, the JCC in Squirrel Hill, McConomy Auditorium at Carnegie Mellon University and at Carmike theaters in the South Hills, Cranberry and Greensburg.

Our Opening Night celebration was a highlight with a sold-out audience of over 350, the heartwarming Israeli film “The Little Traitor,” delicious food and live music. The Festival continued with more than 30 films and hosted filmmakers Roberta Grossman (Blessed is the Match), Hilary Helstein (As Seen Through These Eyes) and Yoram Sachs (Nymphs in the Mist). In addition to attending the Festival, they led workshops at the University of Pittsburgh, Robert Morris University and Pittsburgh Filmmakers. The Festival also welcomed comedian Yisrael Campbell who had the crowd howling after the screening of “Circumcise Me.”

Special Programs
The Festival’s "Teen Screen" program showed five films to more than 1,500 students and teachers at free screenings for school groups.

“Reel to Real: Generation to Generation” our program where teens and seniors come together to watch films and discuss them afterwards entered its second year. In addition to visiting Weinberg Terrace and Schenley Gardens, the teens will head to Forward Shady Apartments and Covenant of South Hills later this spring.

New this year, the Festival launched a program for 20 and 30-somethings called “The Jewcy Film Series.” The initial event on March 1 was a blast and this group of young adults is psyched for the next program. Stay tuned for more details!

We're nothing without you
The Festival would like to thank its committee of exceptional volunteers, as well as all of its supporters and audience members. The Festival would not exist without your generosity!

See you at the movies!
