Pittsburgh premiere
Director: Yoav Shamir
Israel, 2005, video, 94 minutes

A gripping front-line view of Israel’s disengagement from the Gaza Strip, 5 Days is an important witness to one of the most significant recent events in the Middle East. Filmmaker Yoav Shamir and multiple camera crews are given unprecedented access to settlers and military personnel alike as they stake out their positions, all building to a final, gut-wrenching confrontation. At the center of the conflict are the charismatic Maj. Gen. Dan Harel, head of the Israel Defense Forces Southern Command, and Noam Shapira, a fervent Orthodox Jew and leader of the resistance movement.
Uriel Palti, Consul General of Israel to the Mid Atlantic Region of the United States and the film’s producer, Moshe Levinson, will speak following the screening.
In collaboration with the Community and Public Affairs Council of the United Jewish Federation and the Pittsburgh Chapter of the American Jewish Committee.
